ABOUT US

Sentinel High School Esports is a group of students passionate about competitive gaming. Our members are dedicated to improving their skills, working together as a team, and enjoying the experience of esports.

We foster a fun, inclusive, and growth-focused environment where players can learn, compete, and connect.

OUR START

Sentinel HS Esports was started by Aaron Santa Cruz, a former University of Montana VALORANT player, alongside Head Coach Travis Benson (MCPS staff). Unofficially beginning in 2024, the program was mostly participating in VALORANT's Premier feature — an in-game tournament system.

After a restart in January 2025, the program officially began. With VALORANT as the main title and Aaron's competitive experience, the team entered the Montana High School Championship Series (MHSCS). Facing teams from across Montana, Sentinel finished 1st in the regular season, then secured 3rd place at the playoff finals.

In the 2025–2026 season, the team continued to grow — finishing 2nd in the regular season and going on to compete at State, held at the University of Montana, where they earned 2nd place. That run carried Sentinel to Nationals in Boise, Idaho, where the team fought into the playoff bracket and competed among the top 16 high school VALORANT teams in the entire country.
